Dr. Walter Rodney was an Afro-Guyanese political economist and revolutionary organizer. Through his works such as: How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, The Groundings With My Brothers, and The Russian Revolution: A View From the Third World, Dr. Rodney did the essential thing as a Marxist: he made the methodology and analysis relevant to the working class! As a result of his tireless, and militant analysis and organizing, Dr. Rodney was banned by the government of Jamaica (the people rioted), and eventually assassinated by a car bomb in 1980, shortly after founding the Working People's Alliance in his native Guyana. Come discuss a key work, Decolonial Marxism: Essays from the Pan-African Revolution, with your comrades on October 17th, and learn what this martyr of the pan-African, socialist revolution has to teach us. We will meet in the North Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church at 600 N. Euclid at 6PM. See you there!
